Marginalia Patch | Darwin Fish
I spend a fair amount of time searching through ancient manuscripts, admiring the gorgeous calligraphy, beautiful colors, and whimsical doodles in the margins. Many of these manuscripts are religious in nature, perhaps because so many of the hand-copied manuscripts were penned by monks. So imagine my delight when I was paging through a (digitalized) 13th Century English Bible and found this Darwin fish. It’s got that pleasing, swoopy shape. It’s got whiskers, which are adorable. It’s got FEET! Better yet, it’s in the margins of a BIBLE. And even better: it was painted in the Bible’s margin many centuries before Darwin was even born.
A pleasing and storied patch for your backpack, jacket, or anywhere else you might want wearable, hand-made art. This patch is hand-embroidered on two layers of felt, with the option to sew or iron-on. Approximately 2 x 4 inches.
(Please keep in mind that your patch might have slight differences from the one pictured here, because: art, and also because: hand-made.)
