I've never understood people's aversion to rodents. I mean, I don't want them rummaging around in my cupboard, but they've got silky fur, long whiskers, and beady eyes -- what's not to love? One of my favorite pets growing up was a mouse who would leap onto my palm when I reached for her. She would grab hold of my thumb and gently nibble on it, giving me little mouse kisses. So when I found this drawing of a mouse by Arthur Rackham, I was filled with nostalgia.
I found this slightly beat-up frame in a thrift shop and knew it was there, waiting to be united with a scruffy mouse. She's a perfect little surprise, tucked into a corner of a bookshelf.
Hand embroidered using single strand thread on cotton, finished in a black, 5x5 inch repurposed frame.
